Actinic Keratosis
These are scaly, flat, pink, tan growths that commonly appear on sun exposed skin, namely the face, chest, back, arms and hands. They would appear in middle aged or older patients with fair complected skin. Patients who have excess recreational or occupational exposure to ultraviolet light with fair complexion are at a greater risk for Actinic Keratoses. Without treatment a small number of these growths can develop into Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
Treatment
Can consists of:
- Cryotherapy with Liquid Nitrogen
- 5-Fluorouracil cream (Carac 0.5%, Efudex 5%)
- Solaraze Gel
- Imiquimod (Aldara) Cream
